How It Works

Formula

businessDays+weekendDaysExcluded+holidaysExcluded=calendarDays\text{businessDays} + \text{weekendDaysExcluded} + \text{holidaysExcluded} = \text{calendarDays}

Where

calendarDays\text{calendarDays}

Total days in the range, exclusive of the end date

businessDays\text{businessDays}

Working weekdays in the range — the headline answer

weekendDaysExcluded\text{weekendDaysExcluded}

Dates in the range that fall on the active weekend pattern

holidaysExcluded\text{holidaysExcluded}

User-listed holidays that fall on a working weekday in the range

The calculator walks day by day from your start date to the day before your end date and bins each one into business, weekend, or holiday-excluded. The convention is inclusive of the start date and exclusive of the end date — 4 May → 11 May covers seven calendar days. To count both endpoints, add one day to the end date. A holiday is excluded only when it lands on a working weekday inside your range; weekend dates take precedence so a holiday that falls on a Saturday is not double-counted.
