Enter your date of birth. The calculator reads the month and day, matches them against the page's fixed sign ranges, and returns the corresponding sign, date range, element, modality, ruling planet, and unicode symbol.

This calculator uses a fixed month-and-day lookup table:

  1. Parse the birth date as YYYY-MM-DD. Reject anything that is not a real calendar date (e.g. 2024-02-30).
  2. Take the month and day; the year does not affect the lookup.
  3. Walk the twelve built-in sign ranges in order. The first range whose start and end month/day brackets contain your date wins.
  4. Capricorn is the only range that wraps the year boundary (22 December to 19 January), so it is matched explicitly.

Frequently Asked Questions

01How is the zodiac sign determined?
This calculator uses the fixed month-and-day ranges shown on the page. It matches your birth date to one of those ranges and returns the corresponding sign.
02What if my birthday is on a cusp date?
Cusp dates follow this calculator's fixed table. For example, March 20 is assigned to Pisces and March 21 is assigned to Aries.
03Are the date ranges the same every year?
This calculator uses the same rounded date ranges for every year. It does not calculate astronomical ingress times for a specific birth year or location.
04What do element and modality mean?
On this page, each sign is grouped under one element label and one modality label so you can see the categories paired with the selected sign.
05What is a ruling planet?
This page also shows one ruling-planet label for each sign as part of the built-in lookup table.
