How much should I tip at a restaurant?
This calculator does not choose a tip for you. Enter the percentage you want to use for the bill.
Is the tip calculated on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
The calculator applies the tip percentage to the bill amount you enter. If you want to tip on a subtotal, enter that subtotal; if you want to tip on the full receipt total, enter the full total.
Do I need to tip for takeout orders?
Use whatever percentage you want to apply to the bill. Enter 0 if you do not want to add a tip.
How does bill splitting work with uneven orders?
This calculator splits the total evenly. If people ordered different amounts, you can run the calculator once for each person using their individual subtotal, or agree on an even split for simplicity.
